How to stop accidental close of app

Can't find an answer to this by search

I want to stop an app being closed by mistake, e. g. I have pedometer app running to record steps per day, I have several other apps that subsequently opened many times a day such as Outlook, eBay, newsreader etc.

I close down some apps and realise later I inadvertantly closed the pedometer which I need to log daily activity after spinal illness.

How can I prevent the app being closed, such as pswd for closing.

Regards Jonathan

You must find an app that is able to

Continue running in background even after being accidentally closed.

Ask for confirmation before closing.

If your app does neither, it's not a good app, just kind of experimental software.

It sounds like the app's going to sleep when your phone goes into doze (the bane of my life). Without knowing which device you have I can't say exactly but on my Samsung it's settings, device maintenance, battery, the little battery usage under the big irrelevant circle, three dots top right, optimize battery usage, press the menu button to change to all apps instead of apps not optimized and then unoptomize any app which you want to work when your phone doesn't work because it's asleep :)

Reading through your query this suggestion doesn't quite fit what you're requesting but maybe it will be a substitute. Have you looked into using app pinning? It's not so much something that prevents you from inadvertently quitting a specific app but more of a privacy feature that locks out all access to a phone except for the selected app you chose. To unpin that app requires your passcode.

I'm pretty sure 8.0 allows any app to be pinned. I have two that are, they don't close (ever) and you don't need a password for anything.

First of..your pedometer should always be working in the back ground..not matter what..you shouldn't have to be opening the actual app for it to start counting your steps..if that is the way the "new update" functions..that's very very very lame..

Now, I found the way to avoid accidental closings..it's a little process but bare with me..there's this app called app cloner premium..then when you create the parallel app it gives you the option to it won't close unless you press twice the back button..

Almost all my 65+ apps don't close unless I press twice the back button and if I press the home one they still work on the back ground..

Example of what I'm talking about..
