Help How to stop charging when connected to laptop/desktop?

duhprest

Newbie
I'm sure it can't be good for the battery to be charged randomly for 10 minutes as it is preferable to only charge when the battery is close to dying. Any idea how to stop charging the One X when you connect it to your laptop/desktop?

Not sure its possible. Connecting to a laptop/ desktop or game console with the usb cable is just like plugging it into the wall...im pretty sure some time plugged in to ypur laptop wont harm your phone

You can charge Lithium Ion batteries as and when needed. There's no need to let them discharge fully before sticking them on charge. It's actually better for the battery to charge it at higher levels as opposed to when it gets low.

There's no way to stop the charge unfortunately, the only risk is if you use the phone whilst charging when connected to USB. It doesn't draw enough power from the USB socket to charge and be used at the same time which is bad for the battery.

there should be a usb icon at the top of the screen. if you access notifications and press the icon, you then have some choices re connection type.

There is no "stop charging" option, in fact you don't need one charging for 10s here or 30s there won't hurt the battery at all and the phone stops charging completely when it reaches 100%.

good point. in fact, here's a quote from the "tips" by htc itself (to be found on the one x) re "getting the battery to last longer:" "Use the power adapter whenever possible." that would certainly seem to suggest overcharging is not a big issue. i know plugging my ipod, phone, etc., to charge has never stopped me from using it if needed.

Does it really Stop charging when it gets to 100%?
Because my first phone the battery get fat like there is an baby on it.
