How to stop phone screen coming on when text received?

Does anyone know how to stop the screen coming on when I receive a text message?
The problem is that if the phone comes out of standby because of a received text when it is in my pocket the movement of the phone against my leg starts to type and send a random garbled message in reply.

Any ideas?
