How to Stop Spam Text Messages

I've begun getting spam text messages. They do not have a phone number associated with it - just what is in the format of an email address. I've found two websites that show how to block those senders but what they describe to use do not appear on my phone, neither in the messages list "three dots" nor after "long pressing" the text message - not on the top nor in those three dots. I'm copying those two URLs here:

Does anyone have a working method to block text spam?

Phone is LG K20 Plus - T-Mobile

Not really... as fast as you can block one spam email address the scammers will set up three more. All you can do is delete, delete, delete.

Anytime you get a text with nothing but a link in it, unless you are expecting it from the sender, you can bet money that it's malware. 100%

Just block those text messages as they come in. Depending on what message app you are using

Set it up to block texts from unknown/private numbers, and/or numbers not in your contacts.

Some stock SMS apps have those settings, but they seem to usually not work.

"Block" using your device's search function. For Android phones, look for the three dots in the top right corner of your text. Click on it and select "People" and "Options". Next, select "Block" to stop receiving spam text messages from that number

The texts will continue from another number, and then another, and another...
You will spend forever blocking numbers.

Thank you everyone! I'm using the Messages that came with the phone. What I see from your posts is that there isn't any way to block these. That's a poor android design for text messages as it does have the ability to block phone numbers on calls.

Keithbrown: thanks - but the three dots in the top right corner on my phone don't have "People" nor "Options" in it.

My phone does it by itself, it might be a carrier feature not sure. It just says spam detected, view or dismiss.

Just checked the hamburger menu to see if it was a setting, it says spam & blocked but only shows the messages no other options.
