How to stop the Charging Notification noises

AZgl1500

Extreme Android User
 is this how you feel about being woken up from a deep sleep when the phone starts beeping and the screen waking you up?

Well, I have not tried to mess with the keeping the screen black, that does not bother me, so you can just turn your phone over or cover it up.

but the noises? that I can help you with.
My wife is a very light sleeper with extremely sensitive hearing. Just walking across the floor is enough to wake her up.

Here is the fix, first install MacroDroid
* MacroDroid - Device Automation - Android Apps on Google Play

Start a new macro by touching the + sign
Select "Shake Device" as the trigger event.
Select "Set Volume" as the Action.
Now select "Notification" and "System" and then slide the volume dot to the extreme left.
click OK and click on the "right arrow" top right corner of page.

Skip Constraints by touching the "right arrow" top right corner of page.

Enter a name for the macro and click OK. I named mine "Charge sounds off"

Now, before you put the phone on charge, Shake it until you feel it vibrate.

That is the last time you hear the charger beep at you......
but, we need to restore Notifications and System volume levels or the phone is going to be very quiet from now on. :(

Macro #2

Select "Screen Unlocked" for the trigger event
Select "Set Volume" for the Action.
Click on Notifications and System, and move the Volume slider to mid-way or where you found it before when turning it off.
click on OK and press the "right arrow", press the "right arrow" again to skip Constraints.

Enter a macro name:
I called mine "Set Awake Defaults", but "Restore System settings" will do nicely.
click on OK

back out of MacroDroid.

Shake the phone and plug in the charger or lay it on the Qi wireless pad.

the phone will wake up and you will see the charging notification, but you will NOT hear any beeps.

When you awaken in the morning, pick the phone up and unlock it.... if you are like I am, you are going to check your email or SMS anyway.... by unlocking the phone you have automatically restored it back to normal.

Hope this helps your sanity at night. :)

Shake it and charge it, unlock it and back to normal again :)

Are you using the original Samsung mains charger AZgl1500?

If so, I can only assume that the phone charged sound is yet another Verizon, "feature", as I have now been on numerous stock Samsung Lollipop firmwares over the last 3 months and this does not happen with any of them, providing you are using the OEM Samsung mains charger, (part no: EP-TA11UWE), that comes with the phone.

From post #22, here...

"As for the Fully Charged Notification sound and vibration you are receiving, this is not present on the stock Samsung TouchWiz firmware that I am using, (unbranded, UK, OA3 release), when my International model, SM-G900F, is connected to the original Samsung Charger that came with my phone. When fully charged the screen does not turn on and there is no sound or vibration. If I turn the screen on, there is just a swipe away notification, see screenshot. However, I do believe that using 3rd party chargers, "may", produce a sound and vibration to help prevent against over charging which has caused a number of fires and deaths in the past on various makes of phones."

I use both depending on circumstances.
Both of my S5 phones have Qi chargers installed in them, and I now almost exclusively use the Qi pads to charge them.

With the Qi pads, when the battery approaches about 92-94 percent full, the charging cycle stops/starts repeatedly for a few minutes then finally shuts up and finishes to 100%.

The pads are pretty warm by this time and I am wondering if this shut off/start again cycle is a high temperature cycling feature to prevent overheating the phone.

Tomorrow, I will plug in the regular 2.1 amp module direct to the charging port and see if the beeping occurs that way too. IIRC my Verizon phones have always beeped during the night as my wife complained immediately the very first night and made me take them out of our bedroom during charging. That was before I purchased the Qi charging systems.

I can't recall if they beep when charged from the car DC power source or not. The car is very noisy anyway, what with tires whining and wind noises at speed.
