Help How to sync Outlook Calendar with Gmail Calendar?

Matrix Leader

Android Enthusiast
I convinced a friend at work to switch from a BlackBerry / iPhone and she bought an S3

Now she's asking me how can she sync her work Calendar (outlook) with her Gmail account/calendar on her S3?

Please help me because she would kill me if I don't know :smokingsomb:

Is it outlook or is it exchange? If the latter, simply add the exchange account if her IT allows it. Then it has its own calendar.

Its all conjecture though, until we know what email system is being used. Outlook is just the front end

It is for Microsoft Exchange Server

so the only way is for her IT to add her email on the phone?

and where shall i tell the IT dude to do it from? as he is a BlackBerry guy but Im sure its simple if you can tell me the steps to pass on to him

You just add the settings in the email app. You need to know the server name too. But it depends in web mail and IT policy. How did she have it on her iPhone? It would be the same way

Ok thanks a lot, one last question, in the event that we are not using Microsoft Exchange Server, what is the other option to have the calendar synchronized?

thanks

Just my two cents....

If your office is using Microsoft Outlook, then the system running the e-mail is Microsoft Exchange Server.

For you or your co-worker's work e-mail and calendar to sync with your Android phone, you would only need to have the IT Admin to activate Active Sync on your account or your co-worker's Microsoft Exchange Account.

Then, as was mentioned, the e-mail account needs to be added to the Android phone.
If you need those instruction, just PM me.
