How to tell a new SAFE Note 7 from the "explosive" version...

That should be pretty clear for the packaging when buying, but will the actual phones have any distinguishing features from recalled ones?

Now folks are making a mountain of an issue out of it. Unless you plan on charging your phone while standing in line or dining in a restaurant those around you are perfectly safe. I have been reading comments (not here) where folks are refusing to be near someone because that person has a note 7. Sheesh! Big babies.

I wonder if the refurbished flag will be tripped or hardware revision # be different on all new units?

For the future, of all sealed phones; They really ought to add a diagnostic screen where the product data from the battery is displayed somewhere deep within the software. It might require an extra chip or a battery controller, but would be a worthy addition since there is no other way to get inside the phone and see the info printed on the battery without an obtrusive full teardown?

I often see people charging phones in restaurants, on public transport etc. from power-banks. But fortunately Note 7s in China aren't the exploding type, and haven't been recalled.

I can't imagine what those people would think or do if someone was holding a Note 7 while smoking a cigarette!

I'm good because I don't own a Note 7 and quit smoking years ago.

Are you allowed to be advertising Cellphone Service referral promotions in your signature on this forum?

Kind of hard to tell if that's because of the government suppression or because of government backed industry. Or maybe (tinfoil hat on) the batteries that are exploding were sabotaged by Chinese government operatives so their government owned companies could win the full contract....

Good to know because I'm selling the George Washington Bridge! May have to create a fancy signature with a link for it. :D

I know most all other message boards that I've been a member of don't allow it because it would be taken advantage of by all sorts of Vendors purporting to ask questions on a particular related Forum when their intention is really to profit from the exposure. They get banned immediately.

Back to the show then.....
