how to tell if g1 is fully unlocked

hi every one this is my first post, so hopefully i got it in the right place .well just bought my first g1 should be here on wed.was wanting to know i got it off an indv on ebay its say its unlock.but my questionis there two ways it could be unlock i mean just sim unlock or hardware too. can any one tell me once i get it and power it up how i can tell if its fully unlock not just sim.i also want to know if once unlock can it be relock on accidentin case of a reset or once unlocked it stays that way? thank you for the info if i posted this in a wrong spot just let me know.can wait to get my phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like the phone phone sim unlocked. If you type reboot and hit enter and the phone reboots then you have root.
