How to text on Android 2.2-2.3; numbers for contest.

Android 2.2-2.3. Unknown carrier, it is a bill that comes in every month my wife pays. It is a new phone for me! I am trying to text a number (36500) to the radio station having a contest for tickets to a concert. I can get the phone numbers to come-up by touching ''phone''. The ''BIG'' question is do I have to dial the radio station phone number before I type in the contest number? Or do I just type the contest number? Not to rush you, but the next and final time to enter for tickets to this concert is 4:00 pm Alaska time, i.e., +/- 20 minutes. Please help! Thank You!

To late i suspect but you seem to be trying to send a text using the phone dialler. You need to use the messaging app which has separate fields for the recipients number and the message.
