How to transfer audio from CD to my phone

Ok, if I were the slightest bit tech savy I could probably figure this out - here is my question: I have several CDROMs with lectures on them and I would like to somehow transfer those lectures into my HTC Droid Incredible. My guess is that I somehow have to save the data on the Cds to my desktop computer and then from there save it to the phone. Can anyone help me here? Thanks

Thanks! I ripped it to am mp3 with WIndows Media Player - it worked! Are there any other formats I could have used besides mp3?

WMA (I believe), MP4/M4A, AAC (iTunes Store Format), OGG, WAV, FLAC (in the Meridian media player app).

I believe that's all the more common ones.
