How to turn off Sound Notifications for anything but incoming Calls and one (!) Calendar's Entries?

UserBUG

Lurker
Dear All,

I'm into my 7th year of Android usage and feel sillier than ever before (perhaps the age):

With Google Android out for more than 10 years already, is there an easy way to limit sound notifications to incoming calls and upcoming appointments of one (!) Google Calendar?

With my commitments increasing at a steady pace, my phone has become a source of constant beeping (especially emails from GMail and Nine email clients) OR I'm regularly missing calendar appointments.

Frankly, by now, I'd be going for any mobile phone that gets notifications right.
Can you help me out?

Cheers, BUG

What you want is the "Do Not Disturb" setting. Turn that on, allow priority notifications and then go into the advanced settings and give any app or account priority if you want to get the notifications.

Then it's easy to simply toggle DND on or off, or even time how long you want it to be on DND.

Thanks for the swift reply, Lunatic.
I'm currently using DND, but did not know I could selectively grant access to apps. I'll test that.
Is there any app that allows to manage all these settings out of one screen?

Can't say that I know of any. I don't use it all that much, but then I like being disturbed. ;)
