Please help me update YouTube on my android phone. When I click on update now, nothing happens.

Try installing/updating from the Google Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.youtube
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.youtube

I had the same issue recently.
If you cannot get Google Play to update it either, then clear the cache of your Google Play Store and Google Play Services apps and try again with the Play Store.
If it still won't update, then clear the data from both Google Play Store and Google Play Services.
Open the Play Store and wait 5-10 minutes for data to be sent.
You should go through and double check your app settings on Google Play Store, as a data erase resets all settings to default.
Once Google has updated the Play Store, Play Services, and possibly a security update as well, try to update YouTube.
