Which Optimus specifically?
If it's a supported model and your carrier hasn't pushed out any upgrades you can install the LG Mobile Support Tool on your PC along with the proper drivers, and it will check for an available upgrade from the LG site.
Otherwise if there is no update from either LG directly or your provider, your only option would be to root the phone (if root is possible for your particular model) and install a third-party ROM.
