How to upload android contacts to PC or Google contacts

I am trying to upload android contacts to a PC file for uploading to Google contacts. Using windows 8, so far have connected the phone by USB cable to the PC and I see 9 directories that start with com. and a .nomedia empty file.The android is out of contact so this is a one time only. How should I proceed?

If your phone was logged into a Google account properly, your contacts are saved to Gmail. Simply download your contacts from Gmail.
