How to use package installer in android studio?

I'm trying to get my app to self update, but the app is not on the play store, you get it from an apk file. I was thinking to use FileProvider to open the file but then I saw this Package Installer. However the documentation does not really provide any good examples on how to use this. Can someone help me out?

Your post is a little vague, but I think your best bet for getting help is by asking on our Android Development board. Please be as specific as possible! That will help other app developers guide you.
