How to view 'Nearby' from a browser?

On the app version when you click on the stream icon you are at what looks like your news feed that you would also see on the browser version. When you swipe the screen to the right there's an option for nearby public posts that you can scroll through. I find them quite interesting but I can't seem to access the same list of posts from a browser on a PC. Does anyone know how to access this feature from a browser?

It appears to be unique to mobile devices. I'm guessing it has to do with privacy and/or the accuracy of wifi based location services.
 
PC's don't have GPS capability. I'm not aware of PC's that can pinpoint your location. Many phones have GPS capability and can pinpoint your location.

I realize there's no GPS on most PCs but Google has a way to approximate your location for their search engine so I don't see why they can't apply that to their Google+ product as well. Even the phone version is showing me posts from an hour away or so so it's not like it has to be perfect. I'm sure they'll narrow that distance down more as more users sign on but either way if Google can get my location then they can use it for Google+ too.

I think that location tracking on a desktop might be a browser feature. I'm sure the location actually comes from the ISP; but on Opera at least, when a site is requesting my location (like google maps) I get a little notification pop up from Opera asking for permission. Come to think of it, that may just be a security feature in Opera, not so much an actual request to the browser for the location. There's no way the browser could have that info. The ISP is the only thing I can think of that could.
 
They can guess at your location from your IP address alone. They can get that when you visit the website without even having to ask for permission.

I dont think its an inconsistency, I think the system was designed that way.

If you're out and about on your mobile device, seeing whats near by could be beneficial for some. Not so much if you're home.
