Hi,

I recently bought a samsung galaxy s3 because I was under the impression that I'd be able to watch video files on it, AVI, MP4 and the like, but I'm very new to the software and don't really understand it yet. I was able to transfer the files from my computer to the device, somewhat painstakingly, after downloading kreis I think it's called. But every time I try to search for them and play them I'm propmted to open a google account. I'm uncomfortable about sharing all my information with google and yet every time I try to do anything on my tablet I'm asked to open an account.

I discovered by accident that I can access my videos by hitting the search button, opening up my camera, and scrolling through photos and videos. But it seems unneccesarily complicated to watch videos this way, especially since they're not named or labeled and I have to open each one to figure out what it is.

Is it possible to use my tablet the way it was intended, particularly for watchig my movie files, without signing up for a google account? Or is my entire tablet experience going to be this painstaking wihtout one?

:/

You could probably use a file manager to find and play the videos .. but you would need a google account to access the Play Store to get a File Manager.

Basically, there's zero incentive for Google to make it easy for you to use a device with a Google operating system without engaging with Google and handing them your data. Basically, that's how they justify spending all that money developing the OS. Don't expect it to be easy to avoid them getting their pay day.
