How would one get a job with Android?

So I love the Android OS, Although I do love Linux and Windows also, not so much iOS and a little bit of OSX, but mostly Linux and Android :P
Anyways I love working with operating systems, Security aspect mostly on my home labs.
I also have no certifications although I am currently studying CS at Uni and plan to get some certifications while I am there.
What would you recommend I should get to work with Android and maybe even a bit of security?, Is there even a particular field for this with the rise of BYOD?

Thanks!

FWIW a degree doesn't always get you the job you thought you'd have, although it does help. I have a BA in CS, and I ended up teaching English.

Yeh, send your resume to Google, and there's many Android device manufacturers as well of course....good luck!

I believe that Google receive many (possibly hundreds) of applications for each position they advertise. The selection process must be extremely rigorous, and they are probably also looking for a particular attitude and personality make up to fit in with their team. With so many applicants they can afford to be very picky!

Same with Facebook, and I recently heard they paid out on average £96k per UK employee in staff share bonuses. Now that's a major incentive to join them! Google probably provide nice financial rewards too.

Personally I wouldn't want to be in Google, I could be wrong but I think the pressure to perform and do brilliant things would be intense, and possibly quite stressful. I could be wrong though. Anyone here work for them?

I do have the utmost respect for the work that Google have done, and consistently do. They obviously have some brilliant people. Their dev tools are a joy to use. Same with Apple, it's quality stuff. I'm just happy to enjoy the fruits of their work.
