Help Howto: Enable ramped or ascending ring tone?

Probably a realy simple one, but I cannot find it. How does one enable a ramped or ascending ringer on the G1 (UK RC9).

I've found this forum, on how to disable it, but as I can't work out how to get into "admin settings" I can't play. If I type the *#6984125*# code into the dialler, I get "USSD Code running..." then "Connection problem or invalid MMI code."

I have root access if it can / has to be done in the shell.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Bump.

Still looking. I have just updated to JF 1.51.

Anybody got any ideas. The ringer just isn't loud enough.
