Help hp slate 21 pro question

i have purchased the slate pro 21 and i plan to use my failing laptop, mostly keyboard problems, whose hard drive and optical drive i want to harness to augment the android all in one which lacks storage and he ability to rip or burn data. is here anything special i need to know to do this? doing so will save me hundreds of dollars.
