HTC 10 Personal Mini-Reviews.

I received my HTC 10 today (May 5th) and I'm impressed. I want to use it for a week or so and then I'll post a personal mini-review in this thread. I hope others will do the same.

I received mine yesterday, and unboxed it but haven't activated it yet - I had offshore calls last night for work and didn't want to be in the middle of all the glorious phone fun when I had to take calls.

Edited to add:
Ok, it's been a few days, and I'm quite impressed. Battery life is crazy good on wifi. It's crazy good anyway. I'm currently at a location where I can't jump on the wifi on my phone, and being on 4G is draining it a little bit (about 15% with some light usage - 4 email accounts updating, text messages, one or two five minute sessions with a couple of games) over 10 hours.

Everything is running beautifully, although I am having a little trouble with the fingerprint scanner. The scans for my right hand are fine, but I just added my left index finger yesterday and it was having trouble scanning, telling me that the fingerprint was blurry (and that was after cleaning the scanner). Once I finally got it recognized, its still a little touchy about it.

I wish I could add items to the lockscreen (like changing the clock, or adding a widget for calendar). And when I sync'd my Google contacts, some of them are showing up twice, but I cannot figure out why. I've tried to link/merge them, but it's not happening.

Otherwise, I love it.

Very early 1st impressions:
Hardware is top-notch,nice feel-in-hand. HTC has pretty much nailed it here.
I gladly accept the dual front-facing speakers MIA in the trade-off for the capacitive buttons.
Fingerprint scanner, totally a non-factor,I will never use it,woulda liked the I-R Blaster to have remained, but,I knew going in that was MIA,so,I'm not deducting points for that.

As for the software side U/I,real nice,no lag or stutter whatsoever & was able to neuter/disable everything I wanted to,including the com.tmobile.pr.adapt system app & the rest of the T-Mobile bloat.
Wish that the "recents" still had the grid view option, but, again,I knew going in this was another MIA,so,no points deducted. However,I think HTC cut it to the quick in leaning up Sense when cutting this option.

Strange thing regarding Blinkfeed:
I'm a huge fan of it,& side-load it on all my non-HTC devices, but,I'm not caring for the latest implementation.
I'll give it a few days, maybe it'll grow on me. If not,I'll disable it & sideload the Sense7 flavor instead.

Overall,1st impressions,I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10,going back on my no points deducted for previous features MIA:
Ya REEEEEEAAAAAALLLLY shoulda kept the I-R Blaster HTC,your major competitors in the Android segment have either Wireless Charging/removable battery or the I-R Blaster & you have neither. Otherwise a very nice device.

You've got a bonafide winner here HTC; with some smart marketing, you should be able to move quite a few of these.

I pretty much agree with Julio except with minor differences. I can loose the IR blaster, not that big of deal to me, but I understand. I really miss the ability to choose a forth virtual key on the M9. That was a great option. I also liked the ability to customize the shortcuts. That's gone. I really liked the two front facing speakers of the M8 & M9. The sound is definitely different with the speakers of the "10". A really big plus of the "10" that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the earphone setup program. The only place I've seen anything like it is at an Audiologist's office. It's like an ear test. It sets 5 frequency levels for each ear and for each set of earplugs. Absolutely fantastic! All totaled, it's definitely a keeper.

Had my HTC 10 few 5 days now and I think its a brilliant phone,

Battery life is outstanding. The quick charge using the supplied charger is immense.
Love the sound quality. after running through the sound profiling for each ear its amazing! really like that they have supplied a good set of earphones as well.

The fingerprint scanner is good and I am using it loads at the moment but i'm planning on getting an Ice view case as soon as I can find somewhere with stock and i'm not entirely sure how well they will work together.

Something I find really useful that hasn't been mentioned is the power button on the side of the phone!! So much more comfortable to use.

The only slightly frustrating thing for me is that I was a fan of the HTC browser and LABS. Wish that HTC had left us with the option of whether to carry on using that or chrome.

A solid 9 of of 10 for me.

Question for Thicks56,
What are you using the fingerprint scanner for? I tried to use it for phone security but it kept asking for a second security every time I used it. I would love to use it instead of passwords but I can't figure out how. Any help would be appreciated.
Question for Kolio:
What carrier do you use? I'm on Verizon in U.S. and when I tap on the link I get "My device isn't compatible with this version." I didn't think the different carriers were that different.

I just use the fingerprint scanner for normal phone security to unlock my phone, I have a pattern entered in as a backup security option but it only asks for that if its tried to read my print more than 5 times I think. All I can think of is maybe going into your phone and re-entering your fingerprint other than that I'm not sure.

@markdoc
You are correct, my mistake, but, it is available @ www.apkmirror.com & it does load up, just installed a moment ago.

Thankyou!!!! that has made my day. Installed the app and it works brilliantly.

I apologize because it's been 2-1/2 months since I started this thread and I forgot to post a mini-review. So, here’s my mini-review: I love my HTC 10.

For those who want a little more detail, I’m an older guy (77) with poor vision and poor hearing (I wear glasses and hearing aids). I’ve owned some good phones and they’ve always been phablets (Note 2, Note 4, Moto X Pure), so I was a little concerned about the smaller size of the HTC 10. However, the smaller screen has been fine for me. It’s also been great as a phone; I am able to hear callers clearly, with and without my hearing aids.

Speaking of sound, I don’t listen to music through the phone’s speakers, so I can’t comment on those. I use headphones and I don’t own expensive audiophile headphones. However, when I listen to music on my relatively inexpensive Sennheiser HD 202 headphones, the audio quality of music played on the HTC 10 blows me away.

I think the camera is fine for casual use but I don’t often use the camera. I think my Panasonic ZS-40 takes better photos than the camera on any phone.

After 2-½ months my HTC 10 has been trouble free, and I like everything about the phone, although I must admit I installed my favorite launcher, Nova Prime. I have used the phone on both Metro PCS (T-Mobile) and Cricket (AT&T) and all the features have worked on both services.

I used to own HTC phones when they made the Droid Incredible and Incredible 2. I loved the design back then, but was disappointed when they didn't update the OS. I never owned any of their M-series phones either. Fast-forward to today and I am so happy to be back and owning this HTC 10. I've had the Moto X, Droid Turbo, Droid Maxx 2 and even the Nexus 6P, but this HTC 10 is the ultimate smartphone in design, size, battery performance and usability. I've never had a phone that is this responsive and works beautifully without any lag or stutter. All the marketing hype they put out for every aspect of this phone is true! There is no exaggeration! Audio output is fantastic, especially from the aux jack. Build is beautiful (though I do keep it in a case to keep it from getting scratched.) Fingerprint scanner is faster than my Nexus 6P and I like the position on the front rather than the back. The camera is good, though I would say the lens is prone to getting dirty and causing flare on backlighted photos. Low light shots are simply amazing. Battery life is almost as good as my old Droid Maxx 2, which had a much larger battery! And the new charger works as fast as any I've ever owned and makes batter life almost a non-issue. I really can't find anything wrong at all. The HTC 10 does everything very very well and I can imagine holding onto this for years to come. I hope HTC can pull out of their business slump, because they really hit a home run here and I want them to service this phone in the long term. I've included a couple photos straight from the camera below.
