Help htc and wifi

could someone tell me how to make my home wifi work on my htc pre paid phone which has no mins on it at the moment

Put it in Airplane Mode and then turn on wifi. Try that first.

straight talk an I feel it has something to do with my location is not being shown on phone

I doubt it, could be wrong, but doubt it. (Edit - ok maybe, depends how you meant that, could be.)

If you bought a Straight Talk phone as opposed to bringing in your own from T-Mobile, then chances are you have a CDMA phone and the carrier is routing all traffic through one of their proxies (or Verizon's or Sprint's).

If you're unfamiliar, here are the food chains -

Normal network -

Your device - your router - the Internet

With a proxy -

Your device - your router - their proxy - the Internet

A proxy server can be a good thing for 3G to Internet control. I disagree it's worth it, but it really can help.

It also means that if you have no minutes = have no service, they can block the Internet. Again, fair enough so people don't use their towers without paying.

Except when you're on wifi and don't want to use their services at all. You can get blocked anyway.

ok my little icon that tells me that I i have a location i notocied is not there anymore ok so it says my wifi is connected but i cant get thru any suggestions on what i can try so i have internet service thru my home wifi
