HTC Aria...changing the look of icons

I have an HTC Aria...unrooted. I found some icons I would like to download. How do I change them on my phone? I'm using LauncherPro. I have a home screen with a few of my fave apps on it and I would like to change the way the look as well as the icons on my dock. Do I need to download another app to change icons??
 
When you place an icon on the screen, you can touch the default icon to change it. Then you can select from files in your gallery. Hopefully you have downloaded your new icons to your SD card.
 
To change shortcut icons, long press the screen, choose shortcuts, applications, pick your app, Edit shortcut comes up, tap icon to change, choose icon from your saved icons, keep or erase text name and save.

On the dock just long press the icon and a choice will come up to change icon, pick custom icon, and pick the one you saved.
