Htc desire 2.2 Android medialibrary

Help my mp3/videos/photos do not show up anymore in the mediaplayer and gallery and other related apps (poweramp, playerpro etc)
I have tried rebooting my phone +removed my sdcard
Also I have tried apps like sdrescan to invoke the android mediascanner to rescan ,but no result showing up my mp3 and photos again in the library.
Also some folders have a point before the name (like .dcim) what does this mean?

Hey dunbaron,

Using a File Manager, check if you have file called .nomedia appearing in any of the folders. This usually prevents all image files from appearing in your gallery. I don't think this should block mp3/video files though.
