HTC desire /bluetooth settings

hi,
How can i set bleutooth in the phone up to be discoverable to other devices (TOMTOM go ) for long time?
in my HTC desire phone it is discoverable only for short period of time (120 sec).
I also get a message from tomtom device that this phone doesn't support required features, does anybody know how to pair my phone with TOMTO GO 630 ?
 
It only needs to be discoverable for a short period. Long enough to be paired. Once paired they will communicate with each other whenever in range automatically without requiring either device to be in discoverable mode.
 
I have a similar problem - My Win 7 Bluetooth (Toshiba) needs to discover the device to be able to send to it, even though it is paired (or so it shows in my Desire - "Paired but not connected").

Any suggestions for getting Win 7 to recognise a paired Desire ?
