So which of the many different Desire models do you have? Since the original Desire (2010) HTC have released literally dozens of phones with "Desire" in the name 
The second question is, what did you do before this happened? Has the phone been rooted or modified in any way? Is the stock Message app still visible in the App Manager (Settings > Apps > All)? In an unrooted, stock, S-On phone it is impossible for the user to delete the factory message app, so apart from a failed update leaving you without it all I can think of is that it's been hidden from the launcher, removed from the homescreen, or disabled, and in each of those cases it would still be visible via Settings > Apps > All. So if it isn't, what happened before it disappeared?
As for videos, is this something else that has changed recently, or has it always been like that? And are you using the social media site's app, or a browser?
