Sprint has stated Android 2.3 gingerbread has commenced OTA updates and will only be for the EVO. Everyone should be updated by the end of February of 2011.

haha, damn... i was hoping this was going to be true... i tried a ROM of gingerbread on my phone the other day and it was so nice... loved that screen-off animation

no, it was one of the less stable ones that someone was working on... I think less stuff worked in it than in CM7 (which was too buggy and lacking in the 4G for me to really use as a daily thing...)

Best Gingerbread ROM I've tried so far is OMFGB You can get it on ROM manager. Dev works all the time to keep updates coming. Already released an evo Honeycomb port too.
