So I was looking for an official car dock for my new One X. I noticed they were around $70. Ridiculous! I went into my local Radio Shack to snoop around and found they had the official Car Upgrade Kit for the HTC Evo 3D on clearance for $9.99! I couldn't resist. I bought it with the intent of trying to modify it to work with the One X.
I am here to tell you it works. I can't post pics or links yet but I'll figure it out to show you what I did. The charger port is in the right place, as well as the top support and that's all that's needed to securely hold the phone. I'm sure the more industrious of you could make it even more supportive but I find it's not needed. Also, yes it does engage the car mode on my One X when I plug it in. It will not work with any type of case though, so that may be a dealbreaker for some.
