HTC hero broken sd card slot

Hi all, my HTC Hero have sd card slot broken. now i want to replace slot.
i was told that only origional sd card slot of htc hero phone should be replaced to phone but here origional slot is not available..would an ordinary slot work?

I wouldn't expect so. Such highly engineered devices as phones usually have custom parts in them. I wouldn't expect an ordinary slot to be very expensive though. If it was my only option, I would probably buy it so I can compare the 2 parts.

I assume you've already tried to buy one from HTC spare parts? What about an independant HTC service agent?

I know there are ebay sellers that sell htc parts, maybe one of them can get you one?
