Htc Hero or Htc Legend? Worth the price?

Hi,
I really want to get an android phone, and looking at HTC they seem to have the most appealing range - I've put up with a pretty basic sony ericsson for a long time and want to treat myself :)
It's a choice between an hero and a Legend really.

Right now you can get Hero nearly-new off ebay for
 
I think that right now is probably the worst time to buy a hero, as you pointed out the price will come right down in a few weeks once the Desire and the legend have been released.

Yes, the hero will be outdated when compared to the newer phones, but it will still do what it does now, even more in fact if HTC ever get around to releasing 2.1, and it's already a good phone anyway.

Yes, the camera is pretty bad, but then I've never seen a mobile phone with a decent camera anyway. It's not fixable, just the reality of sticking too many photosensors on to a pinhead sized chip.

The Legend will no doubt be better, but if you can't afford it then you can't afford it. I think the Hero is a great phone anyway and you will be able to pick up one for about

I've been called to registered here :-) New user, hello ;-)

I too want to own the HTC Legend. But the machine has so little add-ons, with build up camera flash, upgraded processor and AMOLED thingy. IMO, i think they have build the Legend earlier before Hero. But they release the lesser ones before they release full version ones. Marketing strategies.

If BlueMess say so, I know it is entirely depend on me whether or not I should get the Legend instead the merely outdated Hero, but the gap in between is not so wide enough. Hero still does the job and makes everyone happy.

I can afford the Legend, add up few quids. But, what's it worth? Someone got to help me to own the Legend instead the Hero. LOL.
 
Go for the Legend if you want a great phone that has better future proofing.
Go for the Hero if you still want a great phone that is totally capable of everything now, but won't be as current in a few years.

Well that's a possibility, thanks for the offer :) I was just planning on waiting it out but maybe I could take it off your hands. Definitely looking to buy a Hero though, preferably in brown
I live in Winchester, UK. I'd be interested, but it would depend on a few things.

  • What colour is it
  • How long have you had it for?
  • Which network is it locked to (if any)?
  • Are there any scratches, marks etc on it?

I'm in the same boat as Anthony1, except my Desire hasn't shipped yet. An extravagant and unnecessary upgrade but I love my gadgets :)

I thought the Legend used the same processor as the Hero. Looking at GSMArena I see it's a little faster but that's really not a big deal. I think that's the story of the Legend, lots of general improvements but nothing big in any single area. I think Pryomancer is right on the money, the Hero is a great phone but the Legend will be a little more future proof. There is a 2.1 upgrade for the Hero due, but there has been reports of an upgrade for about 6 months now so while I do think it will be here this month, I'm not holding my breath.

I've had my Hero since August, it's white, unlocked, and in very good condition - I just had to go hunting to find any marks, there are scuffs and suchlike of course but they are very hard to see and not on the screen, buttons or trackball.

It's Brown, I've had it three months. I bought it SIM free so it's not locked, and I bought a screen protector and a case for it as soon as I got it, so it's in mint condition, no scratches at all.

To be honest that sounds perfect for me, how much would you sell it for?
 
I'm with Quboid too.

I've been into shops and call a few shops, got their phone number online. Strange that they say Legend is in stores now and it'd be ranging about 370 quid. And I found this another guy sell it for 320 quid.

Recently he told me that it's not coming any sooner and he would give me a call. How could he sell it even cheaper? Something so fishy about these guys. Any thoughts how?
