HTC Incredible: turning off face recognition with bluetooth on

I don't need the phone to recognize my hand and turn off the screen. It thinks my hand is my face when I am in a phone call, even with bluetooth on.

I've never used the phone without the voyager pro before. It gets worse when I am trying to take down a caller's information using the phone and the screen keeps blinking off.

Is there a way to get rid of this?

I'm not sure what your phone is doing. When I move my phone away from my face it displays the caller ID of my caller on it.

If your hand gets over the screen in the wrong manner as you flick through things it turns black, thinking your hand is your face.

I think it uses a proximity sensor, and while on a call it shuts off the screen if something gets to near it. Aside from the differences in power and size, from what I've seen the Eris and the incredible are very similar

If it helps, I've played with it and found that the sensor in my phone is near the earpiece. If I stay away from the ear piece I have no issues. Since I don't work on my phone while holding it upside down I don't have any real issues. Don't know if that helps you at all.
