Help HTC Mail repeat notification

motownman

Newbie
I have searched everywhere for a solution to this problem so hopefully someone here has a solution.

When I receive an e-mail notification if i don't open it or clear it from the notification bar I get a repeat notification every 10 minutes or so. This is a real nuisance in the gym especially.

I can not find a setting that ensures only notifying once.

Please help me.

I've not seen that. Is your email setup via Exchange, or via GMail? Maybe that makes a difference with the settings\options that you see...

Found it in my Gmail settings.

When in settings click directly on your email, not General settings. Then from there click on "ringtone & vibrate". Once youre in there, you can see at the bottom theres a selection for "notify once" or for every message.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, that only applies to the Gmail app. It does not have any effect in the standard mail app.

Thanks anyway.

I have the same problem although something changed recently. I used to receive just one notification for each email but now I'm getting a notification every 10 minutes. Using the HTC email app, not Gmail.

Thanks

. Ok, so I'm in a way relieved but also astonished after acknowledging that its not just happening on my device. Interestingly, for me it only started happening after a recent OTA update to sense 4.1, ICS 4.0.4. Everything worked fine until I realised that my night mail frequency was touching roof - only to see that there was just ONE email in one of my inbox. And this is only with the sense mail app, not the gmail one.
I was thinking this to be an HTC issue but someone here has also posted about similar issue on SG-S3:eek:. I'm almost fed up of looking at people replying with answers like muting the device and/or notifications but that's not the solution to a problem that wasn't there at the first place. IMO, ICS update seems to be the culprit. Anyone with workarounds? This is really annoying. Thanks a bunch in advance.

The problem has to do with the how often the Email app checks for new mail. The new versions of ICS have a "peak time" where it will check for new email more often. In my case, my mail was set to sync every 30 minutes, but during peak times (8-6) it was checking every 5. Unfortunately you cannot prevent the Email app from only notifying you once per email; its going to provide a notification on any new and unread email each time it syncs. (as far as I know)

I dumped my stock mail 'catcher' in favour of the Hotmail app & the Gmail app, now I get 1x notification, but the endless green flashing light.
The stock mail just keeps whining at me, and when I get crap from USA in the middle of the night don't it make you jump!
