Help HTC One M7-Deleting ATT apps

BigJoeC

Lurker
I rooted my phone and installed ViperOne ROM. I wonder how I can finally delete all the AT&T garbage that was automatically installed.

If you installed ViperOne I'd assume you no longer have those apps. If the apps are part of the ATT ROM, loading a different ROM will remove them. And you'd do a factory reset before installing the ROM, which would remove anything that isn't part of the ROM.

So if you still have them, where exactly are they installed?

Viper roms in general tend to install whatever came with the carrier version.

They also have an installer phase where you can choose to not install unwanted apps.

Probably just as easy to do a clean re-install and leave them out in the first place.

Ah, as ViperOne for the M7 is based on the International GSM release it didn't occur to me that it might include any ATT apps. I've seen some options in the installer for ATT-style icons, but that's all I noticed. But of course I'd have chosen a default Viper install and then tailored that, so could well have just not looked at anything that seemed carrier-specific.

Yes, go through the installation again and just deselect anything you don't want during the install (one of the questions you are asked during installation is whether you want to uninstall any apps/choose which apps you want to install).

If you are S-Off you can just mount system read/write then use Titanium Backup to uninstall the apps, but I'm guessing you are not S-Off.
