Help HTC One (M7) Internal Storage Removal

Lurker
I was wondering if there is a way to remove the internal storage device of an HTC One (M7). My phone has broken beyond the point of simply replacing a part or two; however, I would like to recover all of the data that was stored on the phone. I know how to remove the back cover safely and get to the guts of the phone; but, I don't know of any way to access the internal storage or if is even an sd card. If anyone knows anything helpful it would be greatly appreciated.

It is not a sd card - the fatuous term "internal sd card" is a consequence of how Android hardware developed, not a description of the storage hardware. In fact "/sdcard" is not a separate device, but a partition on the internal storage.

The internal storage will be soldered (or maybe bump-bonded) to the motherboard. You're unlikely to be able to get it off intact, and if you do I don't know what you would do with it (transplant it to another M7? The system storage is on the same chip).

Sorry, but I think this is hopeless. Maybe an expensive forensic data recovery firm could manage it.

I'm afraid it's the way phones are made. Actual SD cards are slower and much less reliable than flash RAM chips soldered to the board, so for the phone storage this is the only thing that makes sense.

Whatever your storage is, whether internal or removable, if it's important then it's important to back it up. If the phone is broken or lost internal storage is lost, but if the sd card fails or the phone is lost then removable storage is gone too, so either way it's important to have a backup.
