HTC One M9 LED doesn't work

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get HTC to unlock the firmware allowing apps to control the LED? Not having the basic RGB capabality is something i had no idea would be missing in such a high end phone. The LED is working fine, but only flashes green or solid green which is completely useless in the business world where people want to have a quick visual indicator of a message/call/email without having to take the phone out of sleep mode.

Has anyone figured this out? I have spoken to HTC and there tech support actually indicated that "HTC has no plans to make any changes" without sufficient number of users complaining. Great phone, but almost useless without such a very basic business feature.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am on verizon wireless and just passed the 30 day no questions asked period, or i would have just switched back to the samsung s6.

wow!

I bought a M9 for my daughter, so far, she has only bitched about how hard it is to select special Notification tones, but I helped with that, ya gotta go out of your way compared to my Samsung Galaxy S5.

I'm beginning to wish I had got her an S5 now, the only reason I bought her the M9 was because of the loud front facing speakers. In retrospect, that was a dumb decision when Bluetooth speakers sound so much better anyway.

i wish i could switch back to my samsung s6....as HTC couldn't care less about fixing something so basic....

It sounds like your LED is operating just fine. It is just not doing something you had hoped it would.
You should have green and red/orange available and various blinking patterns therein - being rooted helps you alot.

However, this is a hardware problem. No amount of software will overcome this physical limiation. They can't "fix it" until the next model releases with brand new hardware and new LEDs - and that's only if HTC wants to "fix it". Their track record demonstrates that it is not very high ranking on the priority list.

HTC has been using 2-color/2 color LEDs FOR YEARS. One of the only recent exceptions was one of the Desire models (UK/International).

You can switch back to the S6 unless of course you traded it away or switched carriers or something
