Hello,

Just bought the HTC One three days ago. Everything's been fine with it, until this morning. I barely have installed any apps, I have like 7 pictures, and some music.

Whenever my phone is asleep, or just "off", I hit the power button to wake it up, and seriously, without exaggerating, my wait is anywhere from 3 seconds to 6. I've already tried a hard reset and a soft reset.

Does anyone know the cause of this? Has this happened to anyone else? I can't seem to find ANYTHING on it. I'm aware a little lag is ok, but 5 seconds? Seriously? That seems unreasonable.

Call it a wake up delay, wake up lag, power button lag, power button delay, whatever.

I'm seriously concerned and doubting this phone at this point. I can already imagine the headache its going to be to convince Sprint or HTC its defective.

Welcome to the guest questions forum!

Sorry about your issues with your device. I noticed in your troubleshooting that you have already performed a hard reset. Did you restore all of your apps as well?
I'd recommend uninstalling all of them and install them back five at a time. After installing the first five, test the delay. If it exists with the stock phone and no apps, it's definitely the phone hardware itself. However, if it isn't, keep installing apps until it does. I'm willing to bet that you find the app that causes the issue.

Agreed - this is not normal. I've been using a HTC One, albeit a GSM model, for a couple of months now, and never seen even a second's delay in waking from sleep (waking from actually off is a different matter). And I've got over 100 apps installed, in addition to what comes with the system.

If it's just started today then as my colleague says, an app has to be the suspect (unless you had a system update yesterday, but I figure you'd have said if so :)). Conversely if it's the same after a factory reset without reinstalling anything then you need to talk to Sprint - I don't know US networks, but I would think that if you've only had it 3 days there shouldn't be a problem.
