Help htc one x continuous reboot need help asap!

I bought my one x used and the previous owner said it was unlocked. Well the situation is I was on the web and suddenly the phone turns off so I turn it back on and gets to the htc one logo then it shuts off again. Any way of fixing this and preventing it in the future.

Can you do a forced battery pull? Hold the power button down for 15 seconds?

If that fails, try doing a factory reset via the bootloader. Turn the handset off, then turn it back on whilst holding the power button and volume down.

Whats a forced battery pull, and if I do the reset via bootloader will that delete most of my stuff.

Apologies, that should have read "simulated" battery pull :o

The One X doesn't have a removeable battery, so holding the power button down for 15 seconds simulates removing the battery.

A factory reset will remove apps and data, but pics, videos etc will be saved.
