HTC One X Indian thread

Hi Guys,

I thoght of starting this indian thread for discussing HTC One X since its gonna be one of the best phone this year hence I guess lot will be shared here :)

I too am planning to upgrade my Desire HD with this one.

first off plss some one post the accurate release date in india ?

this time its great that HTC had announced to lauinch almost at same time as other europian countries so 1st week of april is the time to look for :)

and once it is available lets discuss its reviews

feeling excited to get hands on this beast of a phone with quad core and 720p :)

and with htc sense much better than samsung touch wiz, if HTC does launch it in a week or so, it will blow off the galaxy S3 in comming months :)

I am also willing to get this beast.

No official release date has been announced for india yet. But from what i read, it is going to be released in Singapore on the 31st of march and it is going to be released in india one week after. So the first week of april will welcome the One X to india.

As for the price. It is available for pre-ordering in the Uk and US. It's going for $750....so we can expect a price of around Rs. 38k-40k. Expensive? Ermmm yeah but if u consider the specs you are getting, i'd say it's worthwhile splashing the cash.

What i am worried about though is that HTC have been in talks with Airtel which will be selling the phone along with bundled data. Does this mean the phone will be restricted in using the Airtel sim?....I'm crossing my fingers this will not be the case. I just hope Airtel sell the unlocked version of the phone, as they are currently doing for the iPhones.

Sincerely, i can't wait to lay my hands on this beast.

38-40k INR will be too much, dont thing HTC will make that mistake, they have to bring the price to around 32-33k for it to beat the samsung galaxy phones and iphone for that matter at least in india

but first thing first they have to make it available sooon to indian market to get potential customers grabing it instead of nexus or galaxy s3 etc

This is exactly why HTC planned the release of 3 new phones with different price range. The One S will most likely lie in the price range of 32-33k INR....The One X is a high end phone, which will surely give a tough time to the galaxy s3 which i think will also be priced at around 38-40k considering the specs.

The One S will rivalise with the galaxy nexus and one X with the galaxy s3 and the iphone 5 which is going to be released sometime later this year according to what i've read on the net.

Hey All!

I'm trying to decide between the HTC One X & the LG Optimus 4XHD, both of which run on Tegra 3. As this is going to be my first HTC branded android phone(and LG too, if I do decide to go down that road), I would like to know what kind of customer service I can expect from HTC India. From the info I could find online, it's clear that Salora International handles the after-sales service in India (or dis-service, according to the feedback of quite a few HTC customers online). I was wondering if those in the community who already own/have owned HTC phones in India would shed some light(real life experiences) & comment on this so that prospective customers like me would be able to aptly gauge what we can come to expect from HTC India(specifically Salora) in terms of after-sales services. I know for a fact that in early 2003-05, they were handling after sales services for Sony Ericsson and I can personally vouch for the pathetic customer dis-service experience I encountered in their hands with my then beloved Sony Ericsson P900/990. After reading the various feedback online, it doesn't seem that they've improved in rendering and treating customers with respect and due diligence, especially after Sony dumped them and HTC having taken them on board.

We all know that a phone is only as good as the after-sales services the company provides in terms of updates & hardware troubleshooting. I'm specifically concerned about hardware as HTC One X being a Unibody handset, would imply that any repairs-no matter how miniscule it is, would require a replacement of the handset on the whole rather than just the affected/defective part/s involved. In this case would HTC India replace the handset with a new one or a refurbished one? How do HTC define refurbished handsets?(i.e. similar to Apple where the defective part is replaced and the casing-front & back is changed to a brand new one?).

Please note that I really hope that everything goes well with the One X. I'm just trying to make an informed decision before committing 40K of my money in the handset. And your thoughts & views will go a long way in helping me gauge the same.

Also, before you think that since I own a Galaxy S2 & Galaxy Note, I may be in ways inclined to favor Samsung in any way, but think again. Both my phones, like thousands of others, have immensely suffered from Screen burns and Color banding and it is this plus the dis-service that I've personally suffered at the hands of Samsung, is what makes me stay way away from the S3, no matter how wonderfully advanced their handset is.

Your thoughts & views on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot, in anticipation!

@OP: Thank you so much for opening this thread... It's a wonderful platform for prospective costumers from India to exchange views & ideas pertaining to the One X.

I can understand ur concerns since it will be a costly phone, but there are 2 modes of cust service for android based phones first is the software update which HTC is better than rest of all, they do OTA updates and they dont forget their old phones as well, I am owning a desire HD for a long time now and no complaints

second is the hardware, well, in this department, first of all these high end phones if not dropped or water contacts and kept well out of moisture, heat etc last long no issues, again I have my desire HD for more than a year, no issues, but if at all something goes wrong then almost all company will give similar service if they are under warranty, if you compare with LG or samsung, I dont find them much better than HTC

and last but not the least HTC custom android software called the HTc Sense is far more intuitive and smooth that samsung's touch wiz or LG's some crap UI, remember if you are buying a high end android phone its software experience matters a lot than hardware but this time HTC has matched with equally briliant hardware, no compromise, only thing I would have liked is the expandable microsd but its comming with 32GB which I think is pretty good and will make the phone faster.

head off to croma stores and experience HTC sensation and other LG or diferent phones, you would feel the difference urselves

I agree with saj_2001ind. HTC does feel different as compared to samsung. Just browse youtube and run a search comparing the two phones. You'll have a broad idea.

HTC one X has a relatively low battery capacity though with only 1800 mAh powering a quad core phone with a huge and dense display....but they've included a fifth core which will exclusively deal with background applications running. Let's hope this battery-saving core actually outweigh the low power rating of the battery. I'll surely read some reviews before getting the phone just to see how the one X copes with battery life.

About the price now. If u remember, HTC released the sensation XL at a hefty price tag of 38,550 INR, which is in my opinion grossly overpriced considering the specs. Hopefully the one X will be more cost effective.

Yeah :( and that's worrying. I still have flashbacks of waiting for the samsung galaxy nexus which still has never got an official release in India.....

C'mon HTC! Bring the one series fast!!!!

well, I could recall the desire HD launch, it happened after TWO horrible months of its launch in UK....but HTC had improved with sensation and this time they had officially said it will come on 1st week on April, and 30th is UK launch anyways, lets hope for the best

MRP 38K looks more a likely price, I got my hd2, which was the then flagship product of HTC in 2009 (4.2 with multitouch), it was priced the same. Got it in the first week costed me around 36.5K , after 6 months the price came down to 31K .. Same trend will be with HTC One X probably.

So guys i think we have a date and a price for the One X

As i pointed it out before, there's going to be a launch ceremony in singapore which indeed happened today at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. From the information i collected online, the One X will be released in some parts of asia on the 2nd of April (In 3 days!!!!) and among countries which will be welcoming the quad core beast are: Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and India according to cnet.

As for the pricing. The official price of the phone in singapore will be S$898 (US $715). So a brief calculation will tell us that the price in India will be around INR 35-36k! This has been announced on phonemantra also.

So guys, brace yourselves!!! :D

yes a local retailer here told me he should get the stock by monday, so fingers crossed and seems like price will be below 35K

If it is below 35k, then that'll be a real deal....:D
I can't wait to lay my hands on the One X

Sadly those planning to buy the One S will be disappointed though as it seems that nothing has been said about its launch...

If u dn't mind, from which place are you saj_2001ind? :)

Flipkart has HTC One X for pre-orders too. I cannot post the link as this is my first post here. Price is Rs. 37899 as per Flipkart. :)

And as rightly mentioned in one of the above posts, we can expect this beauty by 2nd April. :D

Yups, indeed flipkart listed the phone for pre-ordering today and the price mentioned by Falcon20 is right :)

I went to a retailer today and he told me that he'll be receiving the One X on the 3rd and it's price will be 36-37k

:D

The day is finally nearing!!! :)

Will you guys be buying the One X?

Any idea if HTC is giving beats headphones with it or not?? All the unboxing I have seen, have some really bad looking earphones.
Its a shame if a Beats enablewd phone that too flagship comes without beats earphones.

I don't think the beats headphones will be included. The beats headphones were offered along with the phone only in Taiwan as a limited edition.
Sadly, the beats headphones will be sold apart. :(
