Help HTC one XL - First initial charge (how long is safe)

Basically I will be receiving the device just before I goto work for a 8 hour shift. I've read a few threads that say two different things, "run down the battery life that comes with the handset," and "charge the device turned off for x amount of hours.".

I've always gone with the second one personally, but if I was going to do that would it be safe to leave it on charge for between 8-9 hours?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hello and welcome!
If you are talking about battery calibration, you will get many different opinions:)
And here's mine....don't worry about it.
I charge mine all night, every night for about 9 hours, sometimes more, sometimes less..sometimes I leave it plugged in all day at work.:)
The phone will auto shutoff charging itself and will charge as necessary when plugged in.
Again, just my thoughts:D

That's another thing I forgot to mention. The battery that comes with this device has no 'memory'. So I'm presuming what you said should be correct.

Thanks for the advice man.
