Unfortunately the HTC Wildfire S is stuck on 2.3.5. HTC doesn't seem to support it anymore. The only other route you can try is to root the phone and install a custom rom. Rooting a phone is a long conversation and I would suggest registering and asking this question in the HTC Wildfire S forum. It seems pretty active and you should be able to get solid answers from there.

Join forums and go to the HTC Wildfire folder. There you will find a subforum called "All Things Root" with instructions.
