Help HTC Sync - big waste of time!

I realized when I purchased the HTC Magic that I was buy a 1st generation Android. But considering Google is behind this... I figured it wouldn't be too bad.

Not so!

Among many other problems, the HTC Sync software is absolutely terrible!
(I am syncing to Outlook 2007 contacts - no Exchange server involved)

Why?
1. It will not sync unless Outlook is not running.
2. When sync is initiated, Outlook starts up (and sometimes crashes).
3. It 'cherry picks' what to sync. i.e. It doesn't get all the numbers, truncates (or messes up) notes for each contact, it doesn't grab the photos attached to any of the contacts....

In a word, this sucks! Is there any better tool available? Cost no object!

Try Companionlink. It works great for contacts. I am having some trouble with calendar which I am working on with Companionlink. But it's much better than HTC Sync and syncs contacts perfectly as far as I can see. Also it has autosync which is neat. www.companionlink.com.

Does this companion sync other contacts also?

The program says it can sync Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Palm OS, Iphone through Outlook, Groupwise, Lotus Notes and Palm Desktop to Gmail. I have no experience with any of these except Outlook. Take a look at the website because they have different versions of the software.
