Accessories HTC U11 DAC stopped working but Moshi DAC charger works!

Driving along earlier screaming to some Sia on car system through AUX via DAC to 3.5mm adapter, suddenly my audio goes bang bang bang, cuts from the car system and after a second of silence starts to play through phone speaker; it was as if i had violently unplugged it. I pulled out and put it back in, achieved another few seconds of Sia followed by complete failure.
  • Moshi USB-C DAC 3.5mm Charger adaptor still works
  • I have 2 DAC adpaters, neither work, both worked fined within last 24 hours
  • I have tried a different 3.5mm lead in a different system
  • I have carefully cleaned the already clean USB-C port
  • I have done a full factory reset without restore.
  • The phone does not acknowledge the insertion of either DAC
  • No new apps though updates are a plenty.
Note. Moshi mounts as a USB device. Warning about battery usage prompts; same as OTG cable for external HDD for example.

Any ideas what could cause this and anything I can try? Phone is fresh with no apps apart from bloat and essentials so now is the time to try everything and anything.

Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like a chip orsomething failed catastrophically in the phone. Is it under warranty?

Unfortunately it would seem that way. Yes! the phone is still within its 24 months warranty; thanks for the reminder! 50% of the back plate (glass) is shattered but has been for about 6 months. I find it very unlikely it was the root cause of the issue. Cant help but wonder if it will void any warranty. I can only try!

I once had the HDMI on a laptop fail in a similar manner when plugged into a TV. Was watching something, then all of a sudden a load of picture corruption, snow, horrible noises on sound, and then the laptop went to internal display only. And unplugging, plugging, restarting, different HDMI cable, etc. made no difference. In this case it was the HDMI driver chip on the laptop logic board had fried
