HTC Wildfire Wallpaper and Lock Scren

Hi,

I'm having issues with getting the right image size for the HTC Wildfire.
Every time I select one as my wallpaper it blows it up and is very pixelated.

What is the right size for images so they show perfect. :)

I'm not positive about this one, but I think it should be 960x800 for wallpaper and 480x800 for the lockscreen. Give it a try...

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried the 960x800 and I have tried 640x860 along with various others. Small sizes to get them all to fit into the crop box on the phone and all are still blown up and pixelated.

Here is how they view on the phone.

This is the original image (Viewed on the PC)
MobileHeart.com-Abstract-3869-417240x320.jpg

I then tried it on the phone and it blew it up and it was pixelated.
I changed the pixels to what you said and also with the 640x860 and with 150x150 and smaller and it still looks like Im looking at the origonal image and its all not right.

I have even been on phone sites that provide images for the HTC Wildfire and they still get blown up.

Ahh!

I (Well my partner) just found out that the image is spread out across all 7 screens on their.

Any idea how I can just get a single image on all screens without it being spread out? Which is just stretched.

I don't think there's an easy way (if at all) to set a wallpaper so that it doesn't scroll across the 7 screens. The other issue is that the image you posted is in the wrong aspect ratio. If you just resize it, without cropping, it will distort and look stretched out horizontally. It's also pretty small to blow up to the correct size, and that will make it look pixelated.

The best I think you could do with that is to add extra white to the sides so that the colored area stays as centered as possible. If you'd like me to do that for you, post me a link to the original if you can, or the largest version of it you have if not, in my wallpaper request thread, here:

With a lot of luck I may be able to find a lager, sharper version. I'll do what I can.

Edit:
Ok, I'm not sure I did the best job of explaining what I meant, (no surprise!) so, since I found a larger version of the pic you posted, I went ahead and made it a wallpaper in the correct resolution. Hopefully, this makes what I'm saying clearer.

I think that you can use LauncherPro to set the screen so that the wallpaper doesn't scroll. I've never tried it, though, so I have no idea if or how it works.

Hey Kaessa,

Are you referring to this LauncherPro LauncherPro v0.8.1.0 released

Because I installed it and FAIK it just changes the menu look and layout.

It does a lot more than that... and yes, you can disable wallpaper scrolling, I just looked. It's under "Appearances" in the configuration menu. FWIW, I have the "Plus" paid version, so that may not be in the free version.

if your still having trouble then it shoud be something like..

Main homescreens (scrollable ones) should be like 640x480 I think

and the lock screen needs to be 320 x 240 the actual screen resolution..

the sizes eyebeam gave you were for the htc desire and other mobiles rolling with a 800x480 resolution screen rather than the lower resolution of 320 x 240 like the wildfire.

I am running a Wildfire and what works for me is 480 x 320 and using Wallpaper Set & Save.

if you press and hold the edge of the crop box you can adjust this to the size you would like this applies for all four edges, i had this same problem and saw this post but accidentally worked this out my self. hope this helps. :D

This is completely oppersite for me, my wallpaper is not scrollable (idk how i even done it) but i want it too be scrollable again :'(

So I have an HTC Wildfire S with Virgin Mobile. And I just changed the skin on my phone and it put one of the HTC backgrounds on it. I want to change it and I have a picture in my gallery. I hit set wallpaper and it makes me do the crop box so I do all that and hit save. It then says wallpaper has been set. but when I go to the home screen it is still the HTC background. How can I fix this??

I have the same problem on a Samsung galaxy tab 10.1. The resolution is 1280 x 800, but even when I use an image with that resolution it spreads it out. It's that cropbox thing. There's no need to crop it. Any ideas?

Hi,
there's an app called "Wallpaper Wizardrii" on the market that can let you choose to make it not scroll even on the regular launcher.
