Android Enthusiast
Ok I don't mean to put this in negative light but I'm saying it anyways..
I got into that part of google again.. the part that says html5 apps and browser apps will soon defeate native apps.. the way I got into this is from me thinking about starting android development.. however much my degree in computer programming was browser programming haha..
So my thought is this.. I don't want to mess with java.. I've learned my languages and after my first experience messing with java I never want to do it again.. they say there's lots of support but most is out of date or falsy.. so I'm thinking about learning as much as I can for html5 canvas.. but is this a viable option for as far as aaaaaany possibility in obtaining rights to interact with hardware and not just the browser?
It's always bugged me for android... I know c++ for good ole pc.. but seeing as android is directly dealing with java.. I really don't want to touch it...
Btw don't even talk to me about cookies for saving files locally on the client pc... Complete garbage and in need of revamp and rethink.. I'm not wanting to waste my money on server space so the files would have to be saved locally.. (so no PHP!) I'm the only one planning on using these apps that I may decide to develop.. if they ever become popular or a good idea.. I might post them for everyone to use...
What I'd like to make (withOUT java.... Most are not possible I already know but just let me leave my head in the clouds haha) :
*screen brightness override
*JavaScript player (similar to appcellorator but just opens the JavaScript files natively)
*auto replyer
*a new phone ui/launcher(in JavaScript???
oo)
*POS system for storing a business' sales to track invoices(case in point can't depend on cookies!!!)
These are just to name a few.. remember I know the limits of browser scripting so I know especially on android it'd be very difficult.. at any rate, I went waaaay off topic so let me finish by saying what I really want this whole post to be about...
Is it really that worth it to learn java when I have the world's biggest grudge against it? And will probably pull my scalp clean off trying to sort through the rag tag inneficiency that each package is? (Ik its technically efficient but I'm saying from developmental stage efficiency)
Thanks for your time I eagerly away any and all replies!
