Huawei any good ?

My wife broke her s8 and I currently have an s9 she wants my phone. She's spoiled so I'm sure she will win. I personally don't want to spend a fortune on a device and I don't want to finance one either. I'd rather pay cash and be done. With that said I can get a Huawei mate se for $200 how are they? I read the the US govt has some concerns about privacy ect. Any knowledge on that? How would this phone compare to a LG G6. Im looking to spend no more than $250. How is the brand are they good or are they subpar? Any and all information is greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Mulling between this phone, and the Motorola G6. I'm thinking of going with the G6. Did you end up scoring the Mate SE for your wife? If she has it, has it been updated to Oreo, as the Honor 7x it's similar to has already been updated.

Huawei has a number of quirks in its software iteration, such as overly aggressive RAM management and it doesn't play well with custom launchers for some reason, but overall the phones they make are quite good. There's a reason why they overtook everybody else to become the number 2 phone brand in terms of sales, overtaking Apple, and poised to overtake Samsung as number 1 by 2021. Especially with Samsung's focus now on its semiconductor business and it's phone division focus shifting from cutting edge tech to improved experience.

I agree with most of your comments, but I decided to score the G6. I know the Huawei models are great, but anyway... as long as you're happy with what you've got, cool.
