Does anyone have any idea what is going to happen with existing Huawei devices - with a possible android ban of their devices

From what I know, by the end of August, no Huawei made device could be able to connect to services offered by Google, including the most vital services like Playstore.

I don't think that is true for existing devices. They won't be able to include them with new devices, but if this statement to TechRadar is accurate then existing devices will be able to continue to use them:

“We are complying with the order and reviewing the implications. For users of our services, Google Play and the security protections from Google Play Protect will continue to function on existing Huawei devices,” a (Google) spokesperson told us.

I cannot see them withdrawing Google services from existing Huawei phones/tablets which are on contract from Mobile providers. It would be an expensive operation.

They didn't. Existing Huawei devices prior to the P30 and Mate 30 can still connect and use all Google services.
