Huawei Chinese plot or not

Is Huawei also a Chinese or other data miner? I read that the Ascend is rootable, which could be interesting, but not if it's loaded with spyware. How much does it cost, and is it compatible with Cricket? I want to get at least 16 GB, with as much SD capacity as possible.

Thanks, I should have been more specific. I mean the Ascend XT. Actually, I'm looking for the best Android I can get for about 50 bucks. I would like as much internal memory/sd as possible, usable, that is, a decent camera, and not spyware or bloatware. Is it the impossible dream? P. S. I might want a bunch of apps that I like, vs. what some corporation decides to install on my behalf.

Beware all Androids lol. They all have spyware, including Google and your carrier. Chinese manufacturers like ZTE, BLU, and Huawei have had their little data sifting apps publicly exposed... But in reality they all have some level of data monitoring installed. I use an unrootable Kyocera and there be all kinds of suspicious apps that want connectivity.
Get a Nexus phone if you want to be able to remove all of it.

I think your best bet is to get an older, but still viable used Android phone. The Samsung Galaxy S3 would probably sell for your $50 sweet spot, plus, being a very widely used device, there's plenty of custom roms out there that would easily get rid of any carrier or manufacturer bloat. It will take a little work and there's always a risk in modifying phones, but it's pretty easy if you want to take the time.
