Help Huawei P10 just got 8.0 and now my podcast app stutters

Hey guys. My Huawei P10 just got updated to 8.0 and now I can't listen to podcasts with the screen turned off because every 30-or-so seconds they freeze for about 10 seconds and then continue again. Doesn't matter if I'm streaming or if I download the episodes I'm listening to.

I'm guessing it's because of the new "background execution limits" that have been implemented, but no matter how much I look through the settings I can't find an option to prevent it.

I went into battery optimisation and gave my podcast app permission to have priority over battery savers, but that had no effect.

Any ideas what I can do?

Could be the particular podcast app needs to be updated to fix compatibility with 8.x Oreo. To fix, you'll probably need to email the developers and report the problem. I assume you've got the latest version of it. Or find another podcast app that does work correctly with the most recent Android versions.

Factory reset. Always factory reset after an OS update, to clear away any leftover bugs
