Huaweu P1 Deleted Photos

Hi guys,

This is my first time on this forum.

I have a problem as by error I deleted all my photos from the internal memory of my mobile phone (Huawei P1).

I have tried several softwares but when they ask me to turn on the USB Mass Storage but I am not managing. I managed to do it with a Samsung Galaxy S2 but not with the Huawei.

I would appreciate very much if someone could help as the photos that I deleted are very important.

Many thanks
Steve

Hi, and welcome to the forums.

I have not tried any such software, but if your question only is about activating USB mass storage, the answer is simple: just plug in your Huawei Ascend P1 to a computer and you should get a button to do so.

Good luck!

For the future I would suggest signing up for a (free) automatic backup service. Dropbox can upload any picture you take, and video you shoot through WiFi, mobile data or both. Your choice. There are other, similar services I'm sure, but Dropbox is the one I use.

The problem is that when I am connecting the device, that option is not coming up. In the Samsung Galaxy S2, it is coming up automatically.

Hi 77Steve77

If you plug your P1 into your PC you will get a few new symbols appear in the notification bar of the P1. If you pull the notification bar down you will see a section headed "USB Connected". If you tap that, a screen with a green Android man will open with a button at the bottom labelled "Turn on USB Storage". Tap on this button and after a few seconds a screen with an orange Android man will open saying USB Storage in Use. By then a window should open on your PC screen with two folders showing one for the phone memory and the other for the external SD memory.

This is how it works for me, hopefully it will do the same for you. When you are finished tap the "Turn off USB Storage" button at the bottom of the orange Android man screen.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

This option is not available for me. Could this be due to the fact that I have no sd card, just the internal memory? When I am connecting the USB cable, I am just getting the option to switch between camera, media player and the software.

Thanks
Steve

My P1 is rooted but I have it set to connect as and a Media device (MTP). I just assumed this is how they all behave.

Hopefully someone else will come along shortly who will be able to help.

Sorry about that.

I think that the only solution that I have is to root it then :( is it risky to root it in terms of warranty or is it quite safe?

Are you using your old Samsung cable?
I believe they have a history of creating their own "standards" so you should really try to use the one that came with the phone.

I don't think you should have to root to solve this problem.

I also think rooting your P1 is rather extreme for getting past this obstacle. Have you had a look to see if there is an Android app that can undelete files and photos? There seem to be apps to do all sorts of jobs and tasks on Android so it may be well worth investigating this possibility.

Nothing seems to work...I did not find neither any applications that let you recover deleted files. I think the only solution is to root my mobile :(
