Hubba, a hub

I would like to learn more about hubs. If they're what I think they are, they would allow more than one USB device to be connected to the same port at the same time. That would be great because right now I have to remove either the flash drive or the Bluetooth adapter to plug the phone into the pc. How much would a good hub cost and do you have any recommendations about brands and models, anything to avoid? By the way, if I wanted to boot from the flash drive instead of the hdd, how would I do that? This flash drive says it has Ubuntu but I'm not sure if it really does because it also claims that all the original space is available. The way this laptop's been acting with Windows, I would probably want to try something else.

A hub would allow you to have multiple devices connected to one USB port on your PC/laptop. The options will be number of ports on the hub, whether it is powered from an external source and which protocols it supports (USB 2.0, 3.0, etc.). For the most part they are pretty simply plug-n-play devices.

Booting from a USB drive as opposed to the HDD will depend on the PC/BIOS settings. Most times during the POST you will get an option to press an F-key for boot options, or you can press whatever key to enter the BIOS settings and set the boot order to USB before HDD.
